Success is a subjective word like Beauty - it's in the eyes of the beholder.

There was a time I measured mine by My Job and What I Owned - Big and Lots.
Then I lost it all.

Now I measure success by my relaxedness, my contentment, my happy and my comfort within myself and I'm okay here and now, although it was a struggle to change my outlook with not having a Big Job and Buku Stuff.

How to be successful?
Well eventually, if you're lucky, you'll be spending a fair amount of time by yourself. The Stuff we collect is only and always is just an anaesthetic or a bandaid over your self.
We use Stuff to take our minds of the important thing which is our self, our core.

When the core is happy and content and is being explored and fed, the rest of life seems to be successful.
It's not a win loss scenario - it's just the game of life; that's the buzz.

Call me hopelessly old fashioned but I still think that the end of "It's a Wonderful Life" has it right.

"No man is a failure who has friends." Soppy but true. Success can be financial, spiritual, emotional, artistic. I think success is living your life YOUR way and having as much fun along the way as possible while making the world a better place for others.

I would never define someones success by money, or education, it's much more expansive than that.

Great question. Yes, I have some success and many things I need to work on, and I suspect if I live to be 102 I will feel that way. My kids are my greatest success, decent, smart caring people at 17 and 8, everything else is just icing on the cake for me.

I feel successful because I never aimed too high in life, nor did I ever compare myself with much superior people..... success does not mean greatness or extraordinary achievements.... it is simply an equation between what we want and what we manage to get. In my considered view, highly ambitious people can never look back at their achievements to feel successful because they are too busy looking at the next higher level ahead.

Great question since you are talking of 'feeling' successful rather than 'being' successful.

If you accomplish what you want. Success means different things to different people. I have everything I want, therefore I feel successful.

You are a success if you achieve your goals. Set realistic goals and achieve them.

It really is that simple. BUT finding the right goals isn't. That takes some thought.
