After my computer crashed, I put my IDE drive in a hard drive enclosure (Rocketfish), but I wasn't able to access it. The drive would not show up at all. What other methods can I access this drive?

If you were still trying to boot from that drive it makes no difference if it is in the pc itself or in an enclosure. The pc still will recognize it a the "C" drive.

What you need is another drive that is bootable. Install your OS (say Windows XP) on the new drive and get the PC running. Then install the defective drive as a slave to the new drive. This would make it the "D" drive. Once you do that you should be able to "copy" files from the old drive to the new drive.

Hope this helps.

You need another hard drive. Make sure external is not plugged in or turned on as DOS will rename drives and you may end up installing Windows onto a D drive. After you install windows fire your system up plug your external in and pull whatever files you need.
