There are some e-mail providers, especially on line, that will not accept other e-mail servers addresses because of the potential SPAM type addresses that can be used. They require an actual POP based e-mail account. In that case you would need another e-mail like the one you get with an Internet service account. If you get Internet from Verizon it might be yourname@verizon.com or whatever the domain is for your particular provider. If you don't have an Internet Service Provider (ISP) then you might have some trouble setting up accounts that require POP mail accounts.

My suggestion is to try using a different e-mail service like hotmail, g-mail (google Mail), any other than Yahoo, and then try using that e-mail as your secondary. If it doesn't work go to the help area of the e-mail account you are attempting to sign up for. You also mention you used the yahoo address on other addresses, so you might just try one of those to substitute for your secondary address.

Hope that helps.

If you're trying to set-up a new Yahoo! mail, then your old Yahoo! address naturally won't be accepted as alternative - you have to provide an address from another e-mail provider.

So, if you really want to set up that new Yahoo! account, I suggest you first create another account (Google, Hotmail, Lycos....) and use that address for your alternative address for Yahoo!.
