Neither of them is a good deal.
On December 31st people are basically just waiting for the day to be over, and on January 1st people are tired and hungover.

If you're born on January 1st, your parents will either have a hang-over on your birthday (bit of a drag for your parties) or they won't be able to have a great new-years party, since it'll be your birthday the next day.

All in all, it's kindest to be born on December 31st.

For tax purposes in the year you are born, a Dec.31 birthday is much better than Jan 1, as it gives your parents a whole year of dependency deductions. I realize that this is probably not what you were looking for.

Jan 1st, because you'll always have a day off to celebrate your birthday without having to use one day from your annual holiday allowance.

It's better for your parents if you have a Dec. 31 birthday. Because you were born in that year (even though it was the last day of the year), your parents can take a tax deduction for you for the full year.

tax deduction on the 31st...try having your birthday on the 25th of dec...not a good experience! We have it before or after, the day of is Christmas and it's hard to seperate, and kids don't come to your party unless you have it before or after.(sigh)
