Democrat massive government welfare coverage is anti-freedom. Conservatives (authentic ones) want to stick to the form, which espouses freedom. Liberals interpret it incorrect and erode it. we are a Republic, not a Democracy

Not so sure about the freedom, democracy, and success part, but they certainly hate our way of life. Muslims see us as a corrupt, vile and evil culture. Alcohol and sex riddled and representative of all the earthly lust that is Satan incarnate. They also have a problem with our foreign policy towards Arabs since 1947.

The irony is that, if they hate our freedom, shouldn't we be repealing the Patriot Act, reinstating full habeas, prohibiting unauthorized wiretaps, so that we become MORE free? That way we can really thumb our noses at them.
Seems like the way things are going now, we become LESS free - thus giving the terrorists what they want (as Bush-Cheney Corp. would have us believe... actually, they DO have Americans believing it).

Fear of the Other is a useful tool in the Manufacture of Consent. In the West it is a way to ensure public support for a private war. A war for oil and to ensure the status of the dollar as the world's reserve currency. In the Middle East it is a way to enlist young men in a sttruggle against those who seek to impose an alien culture on a proud people, a sttruggle led by leaders just as wicked in their tribalism as the western masters of war.
I doubt anybody with an education believes Bush;s statement. I doubt they ever did. People like to have others take responsibility for their barbarism. Those who support US control of global affairs are equally responsible for the Iraqi catastrophe as the leaders who lied to them. I am willing to say the same thing about Jihadists, except, what besides 9/11 can we blame on Jihadists?
They are clearly on the defensive in Iraq. Distasteful as they are, who can blame them for trying to keep a foreign power out of their affairs?
Learn to love the other or accept that others hate you for reasons as ridiculous and false as those you hate them for.

I must have missed some speech you are referring to, not sure who is meant by "they"
I will agree we have enemies in the world, there are those that have suffered some manner of loss due to a conflict in interest with the U.S., and then there are those that believe they have held true to their religion and the only possible explanation for why a more powerful country would exist is that they are the enemy of god.
But, in general I'm not sure who you mean by "they"

'They" hate our way of life because it has become slothful, decadent, and immoral.
"They" hate our freedoms because we have imposed restrictions on "their" freedoms to protect and preserve our own "interests" (interpret that to mean, "What is all OUR oil doing underneath all THEIR sand?"). America is either the 'rich uncle' who doles out money and favors to those who 'tow the line', or America becomes the tyrant who dictates the terms and conditions to its allies or enemies.
"They" hate our democracy because it is flawed by a monopolistic, corrupt two-party political system that "they" know controls the world (something few Americans truly understand, or want to understand).
"They" hate our success because it comes from ill-gotten gains. America is not a super power...it is a schoolyard bully that takes what it wants from the rest of "them". We represent only 5% of the global population, yet we squander 55% of the world's resources. It's no wonder we're hated so much by all of "them". -RKO- 08/20/07

You see politicians say this after they have illegally occupied someones land, so they can drain the natural resources from it then accuse the people of hating them. They would be fine with everyone if they weren't being killed.

If by "They" you mean the militant Islamics?
I'd say that I "Believe"....because Not only have I seen it in the rebroadcasts of their leaders speeches on news reports, but I've seen it "First hand"...because I live where the largest concentration of Arabs/Muslims live in the USA.
I have this "Thing" about usually believing people when they say that they want to Kill, Harm, Destroy, or otherwise cause Me, My Country, and My way of life harm.
And Wanting to do something to prevent Them from being able to do so.
Call Me Crazy, but It's how I "Roll"!
Stop being a sheeple.
These guys are >NOT< your friends.
These guys are >NOT< "going to be" your friends.
These guys are >NOT< interested in your opinion(s).
These guys are interested in you joining them, or dieing...Period....end of story...the end.

Some of them probably do.
Their religion has very strict interpretations of morality (strangely enough so does christianity) - however western culture has continued to push the limits of bad taste and low morals with sex, drugs, porn, gambling, etc.
I could see them being mad about that.
For some reason though, they are able to justify killing people (strangely enough, so are christians) in order to perpetuate their society.
