To use your router, start by reading the manual and follow all the instructions to hook it up. TIP: USE hard wire first, you can switch to wireless later. DO NOT use the CD unless the manual tells you to, for your operating system!

Then, open your browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc.) and type in the right IP address, for example:

Linksys, Trendnet IP is http://192.168.1.1
Netgear, D-Link IP is http://192.168.0.1
Belkin, USRobotics IP is http://192.168.2.1

Enter the default user name and password (it's in the router Manual).

Enter your ISP info, etc., save your settings and you should be able to get online.

Still stuck? Call the router manufacturer, then your ISP.

here is the deal ALL Routers come with the ability to set up and access there utility.
There are 2 ways to do this
1st some are accompanied by a CD that help you set them up step by step.
2nd Others come with a Phamplet, or Booklet that do the same with the use of your browser.
Each can be a little different.
When you type in 192.168.1.1 opens there utility and here is where it can get tricky
Some use Admin for username and password for the password others may use admin and public.
the trick here is to read the phamplet or paperwork that came with each Router. It tells you what to use.
99% are accessed through the browser.
