There are 15 major leaguers who have hit 4 home runs in a game, most recently, Carlos Delgado in 2003.
And if you meant by the whole team, or both teams, heres a link to that http://www.baseball-almanac.com/recbooks/rb_hr8.shtml

Some interesting facts:
Batters hitting two home runs in one inning: Accomplished close to 50 times in the course of major league history. Special mention for Nomar Garciaparra, who hit two in the third inning and one in the fourth inning, in the first game on July 23, 2002 -- the only player (through 2006) to hit three homers over two consecutive innings.
Most home runs in a doubleheader: Stan Musial hit 5 on May 2, 1954. Nate Colbert equaled the feat on August 1, 1972.
the_iceman is correct though, the most home runs hit in a single game is four (4), most recently achieved by Carlos Delgado. Bobby Lowe was the first to do it in 1894. Lou Gherig may be the most notable person to do it.

The record for HR by one team in one game is 10, by the Toronto Blue Jays on 14-Sept-1987, when they beat the Orioles 18-3 at home.
Whitt had three (nice game, Ernie), Mulliniks and Bell two each, and one by Moseby, Ducey, and McGriff.

If I remember correctly, the Yankees hit 8 in a game earlier this year, and that tied a record. (Ironic because it was when A-Rod was at 499, and he was just about the only one who didn't hit one that day.)
