Because they are murderous scumbags who murdered millions of people, Jews, Russians, Gyspsies, Eastern Europeans etc. They started a war that achieved nothing except 55 million deaths and the eventual destruction of their own country

Wow. Not too many of you around to ask this of but...

Do you actually consider yourself socialist?

I find it amusing when people say that National Socialism is not 'true socialism' because in their minds, socialism is only rainbows and flowers. (ladymoonlight) Whanever a brand of socialism has problems, they automatically say, "it was not 'true' socialism".

I gather that national socialism was a variant of socialism (and quite a natural one at that). But, socialists of the time, and even now, disavow national socialism as 'fascism'.

I am sincerely curious to know the answer, but I can assure you that you will never get a moment's rational consideration under 'nazi.org'. Mr Hitler pretty much blew that one for all time.

Americans link the term "Socialist" with Hitler because that is what he called his party.

They often don't understand that true "Socialism" has nothing to do with nazism and fascism, in fact its the direct *opposite*.

Socialism is a means of the Government providing for the basic needs of those at the bottom of the class system in a Capitalist economy. It is more akin to left wing theory than anything of the far right.

It opposes the ideology that people are free and independent. If you believe that the state should control almost every facet of your life, then there is nothing wrong with it.
