Does anyone know of a chemical that will raise pH without affecting Alkalinity? I found an identical previous question from someone else and the answer was Borax. I tried that and for some reason, in my pool, it raises both readings 8 lbs of Borax raised the pH to 7.2 and the Alkalinity to 180.

Baking soda, NaHCO3, should be a good option. It will gently raise the pH and buffer the pool water as well.

Save money and buy the least expensive baking soda you can find. The pool store brands are exactly the same compound at double the price.
