history rarely changes - when something happens, we know about it and unless some new drastic thing is found, history stays the same
for example, we know the Roman Empire was the greatest of the time, that most likliy won't be disproven...

with geography, countries change boudries all the time. It's hard to keep track of who's who and where everybody lives. It's too diffucult.
for example, about 10+ years ago, Yukoslavia fought a big war, lost, and lsot their land. Now the former state is comprised of Hungaria, Bulgaria and others. Boundary lines change all the time...

Which one is better is impossible to understand.
The History of a region is dependent on the Geography surrounding it. Like there aren't major cities in the middle of the Kalahari Desert - or at the bottom of the sea.
The trade routes in ancient times were most often affected by the geography the people had to travel through. Cities were built along these trade routes.
Is there a major population center on the seacoast? How come the Romans were never able to conquer Ireland (other than our refusal to let them)? Why did England have such a strong Navy?
It all intersects.
Whichever you choose, you're going to get a heavy dose of the other as well.
Both are VERY interesting - but you have to take them as sort of a package deal.

Geography is the study (literally writing) of the earth, so 'geography' will not still be here when humans are gone. It only exists in the human perspective. The land will always be here, but the study of it will not.
Ultimately history is the greater field, and more complex and fulfilling, because the study of geography is a part of history, without the latter you would not have the former.

Better for what? A career? An elective class in college? a theme for a party?
Without any details, I'd say history is more interesting, and important. After all, people that ignore history are doomed to repeat it, while people that ignore geography just get lost a lot.

Neither is better than the other. What's the point in kmowing geography, but you don't know the history. To understand the history of a place, you must know the location of that place.
