Yes. As soon as you have your permit you can drive. Be sure to ask that question when you get your permit. Our state requires that the person occupying the front passenger seat be a licensed driver of at least 21 years old. Now, Why would you or your passenger want to risk your lives by allowing an inexperienced driver to operate the car on the highway amongst all the crazy, and inattentive drivers that zoom recklessly in an out on the highways everyday?

You bet. If you have your permit, then you can go anywhere you want. You'll just have to have a licensed driver that meets the requirements of your state, for age and length of time with a license. good luck.

Yeah, you sure can. All the supervising driver needs is a full license (regardless of how long they've had it).
With the highways and that, it's best to check your local/state motor registry to see where limits apply.

depending on where you're from. In South Africa you can drive right that minute, but you still have to have someone with a valid drivers license next to you in the car.

Yes, you can drive immediately, and you can drive anywhere that you are comfortable with. You can drive the highway just like anyone else.
