I noticed the paint on the hood of my 2007 civic (that i've only have had for 4 and 1/2 months) is chipping! Tiny spots of chipped paint keep appearing on the hood. Im afraid these spots will keep multiplying and grow bigger over time. My question is, will the factory warranty or the honda care warranty cover my civic's hood?

Depends on what is causing this. If it is road debris, probably not. If it is bad paint, they will. Take it in and get them to look at it and determine the cause or you will never know.

Most extended warranty's cover only mechanical break down. However you might get the hood inspected by a body shop some times body repair happened and it is not Honda's paint that is failing. If the hood is untouched then you might get Honda to step up and repair a paint defect because poor appearance is making you not wanting to buy another Honda. Call Honda North America and ask where they want you to go to get the hood inspected. Only after you find out if the hood is untouched.

to h charles....you must have sprinkled crack on your cornflakes this morning!!! Inferior paint? I still see late 90's Honda's on the road, in their original color that look better than most other makes out there.

Cliffie has it right. Just go to the dealership. If they seem unwilling then call Honda North America. Honda is one of the best at taking care of issues like this. I have a friend who used to be a lawyer in a firm who specialized in lemon law cases. After doing that for 6 years, she said the only thing should would even consider driving is a Honda. In the 6 years she did that, she only saw a couple cases against Honda even go to court.

That being said, I'm not saying Honda is the absolute best..darn close....but every car make will have some issues from time to time....what makes Honda one of the best is they way they take care of their issues.

No. Rock chips are a common problem on Japanese vehicles due to inferior paint quality. Japanse car companies do many things well, but paint and brakes are twotraditional shortcomings.

Rock chips are a part of owning a car, like door dings. It is called "normal wear and tear," and no car companies cover it under warranty.

Unless there is a paint recall for your car, your best bet is to get a "clear bra", which is a transparent polymer applied to the front of your car to prevent rock chips. YOu can't really see it, but it works great.
