Your question is rife with rudimentary assertions. I don't recall ever hearing a "scientist" say that evolution is caused by mutation. I don't know of any scientist that would ever even say that something causes evolution. You just really don't understand the concept of it.

Evolution is not an effect of a cause. Evolution isn't linear. Evolution is neither good nor bad. Evolution doesn't have a start and stopping point. It just is. I hope that you take the time (months/years) to really unravel all of the science and nature that coexists with evolution.

Now, on to your mutation and pollution. What? Are you wondering if pollution can/does have a correlation with mutation? Are you failing to realize that there are other influences on mutation?

Your question sounds like a 5th grade homework question asked by a 3rd grader.

Sometimes it is hard to imagine the time spans involved in evolution. We humans live such short little lives it is hard to imagine millions of years. All we see is what happens in two or three generations which is not much. Multiply that 2 or 3 by a million generations and it gives you a better idea of of the time spans over which evolutionary change occurs.

We can't compare what we see happening in our lifetimes with what has occurred over the eons.

As others have said, no scientist says evolution is caused by mutation. Some (a very, very few) make some evolution possible. Most mutations cause death or at least the inability to reproduce.

Mutation has nothing to do with pollution. Radioactive waist may cause mutations, but they can occur (and do) naturally. Mutation is caused by errors in duplicating chromosomes.
