if you have sprint broadband on a laptop, and you are paying a monthly bill for it, does that mean that my cell phone internet is free

no both are uniquely different. there is a plan for internet on your phone that will not take minutes while doing internet checks maybe $10-15 a month. see a store person or call customer services to change your plan.
