My male rats are really no less active than my female rats, whether it is night or daytime, even though people say that they are more docile. I used to keep my rats in my bedroom, but I found they got more human interaction when they were kept in my living room, and I think it tired them out to be awake and active during times when I am in the living room. What I suggest you do, if you are living with your parents and don't want your rats in the living room at all times, is to put them out just for the night time, that way you can get your rest. During the day, you can put them back in your room so they aren't in the way of your parents. Whatever you do, don't get more rats if you are already being kept awake by your old rats. You really won't find much of a difference between your girls and your boys in the way of being up at night, they are all nocturnal regardless of their sex! Anyways, good luck!

No, but my kids have a hamster I'd like to let loose in the neighborhood somewhere! That lil sucker chews on the bars all night long! Last night he got a cup of water, ha ha ha, when he finally got hisself licked dry, he went to sleep. Then I banged on the cage and woke HIM up!
