Wizard The Guide to Comics has a monthly price guide in each issue. It is a good starting point to figure the value of an issue. If you want to have it graded by a professional comic grader, the guys at the CGC are the ones to look into. The only problem I have with them is that while they painstakingly go over every page of a particular issue, and give it a grade which increases the value over an ungraded copy of the same issue, once it has been graded, it is sealed in a protective sleeve which means you can never enjoy the copy again, unless you open it and void the grade. I collect comics to enjoy the artwork story and characters, not for the money. It really depends on why you collect in the first place. Check out Wizarduniverse.com for further info on comic values, and grading.

You can go to your local comic book store and buy a price guide such as Overstreet Price Guide. There used to be a cheap newspaper-looking guide called Comics Values Monthly in the late 80's and early 90's that I bought occasionally. Wizard magazine also has a price guide in each issue. I don't really collect anymore, but I think about jumping back into the hobby when I read news reports about the San Diego Comic Con every summer. If you don't have a local comic shop (they're getting harder to find because of the internet), go to a big bookstore like Waldenbooks or Barnes & Noble, and you'll find the Overstreet Price Guide. You could also go to a nearby flea market and find a comic book dealer there, or you could go to eBay and buy a comic book price guide.

Head for the nearest public library and check out the Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide. If they don't have a copy, you'll have to go to a comic store.
The Guide will give a ballpark price you could expect a collector to pay for a given comic. A store won't offer you as much, because they'll want to sell their comics at or near the Guide price.
