Double or triple the amount of troops we have over there.....like 4 years ago.
Iraq is getting really chummy with Iran. I don't know what we can do about that. It's up to the Iraqi government.

It was my understanding that when the U.S. military was dispatched to Iraq the objective was to provide support to the Iraqi people who wanted to be free of the oppressive government. After almost six years of the U.S. military being in Iraq, it would seem to me that the Iraqi people really don't care whether they are free or not. They are similar to those in the U.S. who want unconditional care--benefits without responsibility.
The United States will never be victorious in Iraq, just like we were not "victorious" in Korea or Viet Nam. We did not go to Korea, or Viet Nam to win anything. We went to show the rest of the world that we were a force to be reckoned with. We failed, just as we will fail in Iraq.
The United States government, and the people of the United States, do not want to "take on" Iraq. Yes, we will send troops there, put young men and women in harm's way; but, we, as a country, are not willing to give our all as we were in WWI and WWII.
The United States will never have VICTORY in Iraq because we did not go there to be victorious. We weren't dedicated to "winning" anything.

It is the idea to stay in the region for an indefinite amount of time. Oil is the main prize. The administration actually doesn't want the war to end. The surge is actually just preparation for the imminent war with Iran. The idea is whoever controls the middle east controls the vast majority of the world's remaining oil reserves. Control the energy, control the planet. It is really quite simple to understand when you know the government lies incessantly.

Its difficult for anyone to understand exactly what is needed to declare mission accomplished .
Obviously there is much to be done in Iraq to insure that that nation remains intact and is not swallowed up by its neighbors .
History has shown that people will turn to violence under certain conditions and one of them is when shortages of basic needs abound among the populations .
Its always someone else's fault if things are bad .
In a nation with strong divisions in religion and politics it is easy to see that Iraq is not going to return to any kind of peaceful state as long as it is in ruins and the streets are full of armed men enforcing a peace that is unattainable.
The people are divided and peace will not return until someone can stand up and deliver a message of hope to the people that in ending the violence that things will get better .
When you are eating your meals served in long lines and markets are only open for a few hours a day and people who take jobs paid for with American blood money , people tend to take out their frustration on others .

That's unknown by almost everyone, including the administration. They simply have not defined what is victory and what is the job they are completing.
Karl Rove gave good advice on how to win elections, but he was not a foreign-policy expert.

Karl Rove is a political adviser. He knows how to help candidates win elections. He is not a military expert. You misspelled the word "blame."

All Dubya & co. would have to do to finish in Iraq is go back seven years and actually plan for an insurgency and have an exit strategy in place.
Or not invade and occupy a country that never attacked us, and posed no real threat to us.

It's taking a surge, and it's happening now. We are winning the war over there - ask the soldiers if you don't believe me - and losing it over here, no thanks to the anti war left that insists, like majority leader Harry Reid, we have already lost.
