at the prospect of returning home? Of entering Madeleine's shocking pink bedroom which colour she herself chose?
For those who accused her parents of living a celeb lifestyle off the fund and of also more sinister & darker moves, now that you know that the McCanns lived off their own personal finances, do you have the grace to realise that you are not the law?

Edit: Hellooo! No one condoned them leaving their babies unattended. They, themselves, spoke of "feelings of guilt". No, they didn't wail & tear their hair off about that guilt in public which i'm certain they do within the privacy of 4walls. i speak of the grief of returning home without Madeleine.

Hi justmeagain! i agree with your last line... yup, they neglected their children by leaving them unattended. But there was no INTENT TO HARM. Therefore baseless accusations of them intentionally harming their child are cruel to say the least. I see their remorse and i can't understand how you fail to see it. They've been to do all what it takes to spread awareness of their baby & thats what they've done & a darn good job they've done too.

Faith,
I don’t have children. I’ve only experienced the death of an elderly relative, a relationship break up, and a stolen pet. I can’t even begin to imagine what it would be like especially for a mother to suddenly lose her young child. There is nothing worst than carrying your child, caring for it, loving it and already dreaming of its future only to have it ripped away from you. The Pain of losing one's child is so incomprehensible by someone that has not experienced it that there are no words to describe it.
I will leave it at that.

There have been one or two who believed in the abduction theory, or wanted to believe in it, but the vast majority find the whole thing quite sinister. Opinion tends to be split with some favouring the parents killed her, but I think the majority believe it was an accident and a massive cover up. One or two even suggested she was sold by her parents. Nobody I know can understand how the McCanns could think it was okay to leave 3 babies alone. They were supposed to be intelligent people! That is the type of behaviour you expect from people who are less educated or less intelligent and not aware of the risks, or those who don't really care about their children's welfare and prefer to put their own pleasures first. And it wasn't a mistake, it was complete indifference. Don't forget the children had been crying for the parents 2 nights in a row. But I think it's been the McCann's general behaviour, their refusal to answer questions, Gerry's immediate bid to direct and influence the investigation and the complete and total arrogance and coldness of both parents that really causes so much hatred towards them. Some people also believe that the speed with which the media were mobilised, the website set up, the political personalities pulling strings, other influential persons becoming involved, it all happened so fast as if the plans had already been laid. But I would say that the majority of people, especially colleagues, I have spoken to believe it was an accident and a cover up.

Of course one can understand their pain, they are grieving the loss of a child who may never be found. If they had lost Maddy through death,it would have been conclusive. But as it stands they don't know what happened. Which leads me to comment again on their behaviour whilst they were on Holiday,it should have been beyond reproach but it wasn't.It is their place to feel guilty, and that added to the pain of losing Maddie must be awful. It could have been avoided if they had paid heed to others. This problem is for them to bear alone .No one can take this burden from them, its a cruel fact of life, they will be upset when they get home .Its with them for life unless Maddy is found.Even then how would they cope ?

hi Faith
this couple have left me bewildered with many of there actions and for a time i felt they were involved. However, although they still leave me confused i don't think they have any involvement other then neglect and lack of consideration towards there young family.
it seems that Kate dug her heels in about staying in Portugal in the vain hope that Madeleine would return, now reality is setting in and she is beginning to realise that this will probably not be the case.
i personally find that heartbreaking, as she firmly believed that she would not return without her, then to acknowledge that that hope is dwindling and she may never see her again.
as much i dislike their actions, i wouldn't wish that pain on any one. i don't think they will return to their home straight away.

The McCann bashers think they ARE the law - judge and jury. The hatred towards these people is uncalled for - yes, we know they shouldn't have left their kiddies alone, but they did, and now they have to live with it. To those who accuse them of any more than neglect, shame on you all.
justiceformaddie - your comment is neither useful or intelligent

hi faith.
if this was a clear cut case of child abduction, which it is not,
if the maccanns admitted they done wrong, which they have not,
if they actualy searched for their child, which they have not.
if they stopped trying to cover their rare ends, which they will not.
if they were not carrying on, as though nothing has happened, which they are not,
and if i could see remorse in their faces ,which i can not.
then maybe i would, show some pity towords them, but they will always remain child neglecters in my eyes, in my eyes.
faith provide a link, so i can see for myself, i know you dont want me to show you links,, wit all the smiles, just two weeks after she went missing.
and like you say faith, they neglected their children,, i would not ever sympathise with people like that

No we can't, I wish she had been found!
However I can't imagine being selfish enough to want to go out without my kids and leave them unattended! I can't imagine letting my remaining two kids go to the creche esp after i had a child missing! I can't imagine going running, or walks on the beach, or visiting the pope while my little girl was missing! I know I would be absolutely hysterical and not be under control, I know I would virtually have my remaining kids chained to me to protect them! No one can imagine even living one day of their lives!
Perhaps it will make other parents who neglet their kids, think before they go off and enjoy themselves! ~Poor little Maddy, people are so worried about the parents feelings, what about hers! If she is still alive what the hell is she going through!

Well at the end of the day...they were the ones to go out and leave three wee babies to defend themselves, (my god anything could happen! OH yeah and it DID) whilst having a meal and a good few bottles of wine! Of course they are gonna feel bad...But...where is their apology for their mistake...NONE...they are still under the illusion that what they done is within the boundaries of responsible parenting!!! And where is the proof that they have not used the Madeleine fund to help them stay there? How can posters. air flights etc. cost £67,000.00? No I am not the law, but they were all lying that night and the public have a right to their own opinion! The McCanns are the ones that have made this very public indeed!! Freedom of Speech!

first of all i would like to say yet again, the fact that the parents left them alone, is well established. we all know that it happened. now lets move on. that statement is not in any way directed at the asker of this question it is aimed at the answerers.
right ! now to answer faith... i cant imagine how they must be feeling waking up everyday without their little girl. and the pain of going back to their family home without her must be unmeasurable. its so hearbreaking.

No. I have seen parents (close friends) who have had to deal with the fact that their children have been abused. But dear God, at least their children were alive.
Sorry, couldn't give a fig about the money.
