Being proud is not a gender issue. Members of either sex can be proud of something. I think it can be motivating and important for anyone to be proud.

It all began in the stone ages when men were the provider and looked after his woman and children.
I guess they assume it is their duty to be the provider of the family and do what they have to do to satisfy there famillies. Not doing so shows they are not doing there job, and not winning also cause them to lose there pride as for not giving up also loses their pride. Its all about masculinity.

Man thinks they are great, becoz not only nowadays, even in the past, man will become the head of a family, while women only do their housework. They earn money to make satisfy the need of their living. So they see that, women don't have that much power. But nowadays, lots of women has work too.

If women achieved greatness in some field or in life itself, there's nothing wrong with women feeling good about what they have done.
So there same would apply for men who have achieved greatness as well, there's nothing wrong them feeling good about themselves either.
As for importance, it depends. As long as whoever it is that has achieved something doesn't place themselves above everyone else, then there's nothing wrong with it having some importance as it may lead to other great things.

Sure, men are proud of their accomplishments, but so are women. It's important in that it spurns both on to further achievement, success, income, and happiness.

it is really important to be proud of ourselves whether we are men or women. being proud of ourselves only mean we love our self, we love our parents who nurture us and most importantly God above all who blessed us every day. by loving our self and others we can live and grow always in light that no matter what hardship will come into our lives we can always solve it. meaning being positive always is also being proud of ourselves. also being proud of ourselves does not limit whether we have sexy abs, sexy butt, lean muscular and the stuff we see every day in television. meaning by being good to others by giving our best by being what we are, and by accepting what we are and what we can do to the very best of our people and to our mother earth i think that would be the essence of being proud to our self.

Self-importance is always valuable to the owner. They give themselves a title to go with the self-praise like 'brewmaster' for instance.
