Its in most of the papers that the reason they are coming back is because they have exhausted their finances.

Maybe we should raise a fund to ......... oh hang on, didnt we already do that?

ScaryMary and Faith - They are both doctors. I hardly think we have to meet them at the airport with bread, bottles of water and blankets.

EDIT: Faith - Goddam it I hate it when youre right ....... ;)

BUT, we are only taking their spokeswoman's word for this. Its not like they have a vested interest in trying to garner public support given the latest developments which seem to be focusing attention very much on them and their cohorts (sorry friends)

Even if the McCanns faced financial ruin, they would not use the money for their own needs. That is dignity, pride and class, things that are alien to some these days.

This case when it concludes, should teach some people valuable lessons in life, unfortunately it will fall on deaf ears.

I guess group McCann have taken out this insurance... retrospectively so they could upload to their coffers... they are going to choose it considering the fact that they intend on doing precisely the comparable difficulty next time they bypass in another country... ..i.e bypass away their little ones on the backside of an incredibly long backyard!

They may not be allowed back, if, like the police say, new evidence is about to surface regarding the case. Having said that, the police have been saying that over and over again, this is why the case has dragged on in the media eye. Nobody cares about their money problems, we are getting to the stage where we don't want to know about them anymore, apart from Maddie (if she's alive)
I agree that we should worry about all the other children who've gone missing, whose parents don't have the high status to allow them a chance of being searched for by the whole world.

How on earth have they run out of money? Aren't they both on compassionate leave with full pay? As for their accommodation surely that was without charge? As were their flights, so what is going on? More deception? This is to garner sympathy and deflect interest from where it should be, what really happened on May 3rd.

Ran out of money, my foot. What about all the other missing
kids who don't have money for such a big publicity campaign? The McCanns bilked people out of a million pounds. There's more to this scam than meets the eye.

NO.There are other families in the same boat ! Perhaps they could ask for advice on how to survive ?The one good thing to come from all of this is a greater awareness of Missing children/teenagers/adults.Kate will not be going back to work as a doctor ,she will devote her time to children's charities .Apart from that I don't know what they can do except rebuild their lives.I would also advise them to change their friendships.

Aren't they on compassionate leave from work?
If so they are still raking in a combined salary in the region of £180,000 +
I for one will not be there with water, bread and blankets but I would love to shadow the social worker that visits them to discuss the neglect aspect of this case as part of my course.

I am still anxious to see the money they raised going to an efficient child's charity and not sitting about in other people's hands unregulated.

The reason quoted in most papers for them coming back is "to give the twins some semblance of normality".

Obviously if they have run out of money then that is a major contributing factor to their return.

I`m glad it`s come out that they are living off their private savings and not the fund money..........one in the eye for all those cynical armchair critics out there.

Maybe it is just time for them to come home, bearing in mind the two little ones they have. However I hope the circus element of this little girl's disappearance orchestrated by the parents does not continue over here. We all wish for the best (but doubtful) outcome on this terrible story. Gerry, Kate and the couples they shared that fateful night with can be assured they themselves hampered the investigations. The McCann's lied about "checking on the children" from the outset. To add insult to injury so did these couples. Had they come up with the truth (they did not check on the children) then the investigators would have been looking at an entirely different set of facts. Little Madeleine could have been missing for up to nearly three hours by the time her mother discovered she was missing. Instead the police were led to believe she had only just gone missing. This shameful telling of lies will follow the McCann's forever. The other couples who readily lied for them / with them, did so, I believe to hide the fact that they too left their little children for as long as the McCann's did, and like the McCann's on a nightly basis! But these people have pulled rank in the most spectacular fashion, but they are guilty of sullying this enquiry right from the word go and deserve to be outed as a result of this. There are enough people who can vouch for the McCann's never having left their table and their voices must be heard. The hapless Gerry (among other things) is on record as saying when he checked the apartment at nine o'clock (supposedly) he thought one of the doors which should have been closed was in open! Who in their right mind would not have checked this? Instead if there had been a grain of truth in this it means this individual sallied back to enjoy his evening, the children's welfare left to the elements.

This man trained at the expense of the public money as a DOCTOR...............god help us!
