Anti-Virus' are a personal preference type.
You know what you want it to do and when, so you
want to look for what you want the AV to do specifically.
Some people like using FREE AV's which are okay for
the price, which they're some good AV's out there
that are free, some are bad as well.
I guess it comes down to what program that you like

There is no sure way to stop hackers if they are intent they will find a way, but some simple things you can do - ensure any wireless router you have has been changed from its default settings, change the login password and the SSID - Ensure any wireless router has WPA security enabled with a strong 8 digit password - Dissable WPS on your router - Install a good antivirus package on your machine, free ones do a good job - Turn on your firewall, windows is on by default but check - Keep your pc up to date, there are lots of updates released every month, make sure you have the latest updates, if there is an update then it fixes a problem and the bad guys know about it - Dont open sites from links in email or messages...

You cant protect u r PC completely!
The best security is install the AVG Anti-virus and install a Zone alarm Firewall. Thats it
