I knew somebody would insult the Canadians! Canadians do NOT like being called "North American" as they do not like to be associated with the US. Canada is totally Independent of the US and that is why the US bought Alaska, off Russia. Americans couldn't bear the idea of another "Country" standing between them and the Soviets. Canada is a "Commonwealth Member" and is classified as a "Dependent State" of Great Britain. That is the reason why Canadians can speak English and Americans can't LOL Therefore, you can postively say that Canada is a Country but you can also be right by claiming that it is a Dependent "State" of Great Britain. Both are correct!
