I felt so bad that the rescue workers will killed trying to save the miners. But, I'm just so sad that they couldn't get through to the men that were either trapped or died in the mine. I would hope that they could find a way to get to the men or at least there bodies for the sake of the families.

I agree it's not worth risking too many people to save them. But, as with firemen the try because it's their duty. I just wish they could have found a safer way to try and find the miners. I can only think it would be a very horrible way to die if they were alive after the collapse. It just made me feel helpless and bothered especially after about a week of watching it on the news. Because, if it were you trapped you would hope someone was coming.

I think that eventually they will locate the miners, but it will be some time, and unfortunately there will not be enough air or supplies for them to survive. These individuals working in hazardous lines of work all understand when things can go terribly wrong. There were lots of times in my career that I was pretty sure that I was not going home tonite or if I did it would be in a bag

One said "they gave up to easily" how can that be, three killed, two critical and two hurt, some hurt and released. What, pray tell are they suppose to do?

In the movie "Private Ryan:" thirty three men were killed to save the life of one man. When does it stop or is this a matter of principal.

I think they, the people, gave all they could and went the extra step to save those men. Now the families want them to go without concern for themselves, in a capsule, down the mine to retrieve the bodies, at all costs, this is insane. They are dead and I'm sure can wait.
I try and reason out how those people fell but, they are dead just the same. I wouldn't want my loved one to enter into the depths of hell to retrieve a dead body just so they can be buried.

They should keep trying, there is no cost to human life, all issues put aside, keep drilling, and they are. Just maybe someone made it. But, not at the cost of more lives unless they're volunteers

Mica, how easy for you to say "they gave up too easily"!. This isn't a rescue case of a cat stuck in a tree...We are talking about 6 miners trapped 1,500 ft BELOW surface when the mine caved in by a small earthquake. If you think it's so easy, then go to Utah and show all the rescue crew how it's done.

Yes , my heart goes out to all the families of the miners and the rescuers. I really thought they were going to reach them in time. It hurts to think of all the wonderful people lost and the families that will now be without their father, sons , brothers. for those of you who have never been inside a deep mine, you can't imagine how dark, dank,
and unhealthy it is.
My grandfather worked in the mines in Scranton PA. he took my brothers and I on a tour of the mine. We went down into the mine on a track car . I don't know how far down we went, but it was still dark as we kept going down. There was no light but these lamps on the wall. It was cold and wet. We walked for miles under ground as my pops explained how it was done. i just wanted to get the hell out of there. They didn't make alot of money and had to work long hours. Being uneducated, and losing his Dad at an early age from black lung( mine related } he went to work there at 15. he quit at 20. But it was like working in hell.
So, I give alot credit to men who go down there everyday
and risk their lives. It's not something I could.

I believe Mica is referring to the men in charge NOT the rescuers. The top men didn't seem to care from the start. The rescuers are hero's in my mind and they did everything they were allowed to do. I think they should try the capsule. You know, since it has been available to try since day 1. I would want to properly bury my family member. My heart goes out to the families of these men.

Yes it bothered me. It seemed like they took way too long in trying to find them and they gave up too easily!
