I do. I've just sat and read all the answers to one q for over half an hour. That's my problem, I don't find it easy as you all have so many good answers. If I extend them it gives me more time to think about it and be as fair as I can.
Any views on the subject? x

SW69 See the bar under your q. Hold your cursor over the pencil. That will allow you to extend the q and a few other things. x

Sylvia C. You will never be as confused as Sylvia d, believe me! lol x

Florence07. I think we are on the same wave length. Wonder if we have same views on thumbs?
I give thumbs up on all answers I like, but I don't thumbs down the others cos everyone is entitled to their own opinions even if I don't agree with them. The only exception is when someone is abusive or crude, then I thumbs down cos I don't have to even see it when it's hidden. x

I understand exactly what you are saying. It is very difficult to decide, at times when the answers are equally as good. I have not had to extend the time as of yet but, I see your wisdom in doing so! At least in this section.

Yes I give my thumbs up to the good answers, and of course my thumbs down to the trolls answers. But I don't normally extend. I can always go back to my profile and look at all my Q&A's and see how many answered and what they had to say. By the next day, I've pretty much decided who I want to pick as best answerer. Yes I do go through all the questions asked on this forum, to see what everybody else has answered. Love, you guys/gals. A little sanity in this world.

Yes, I do, and for the same reason, to give me more time to choose, but it sometimes feels as if I'm cheating. It doesn't make it any easier either, does it! specially when you get more answers to go through. Perhaps we should have the option of putting a q on hold for a few days while we make up our minds, or we could at least award runners up points.

I don't like the idea of putting q's to a vote - haven't done it yet but I've been tempted.

Or, perhaps we shouldn't care so much! ha ha ha.

PS Yes, I agree over the thumbs too, and am training myself not to get annoyed with those unjustified thumbs downs!

I've decided I don't ask questions very well, because I get few responses. I might let them go into voting, because I don't think anyone addressed what I asked.

Generally, after two days, I'll pick the best. I've never extended the time on a question.

I DID get quite a response when I asked about declawing cats, though. People feel pretty strongly about that, and I felt strongly about it when I had it done.

I extend a question for a couple of different reasons. One is the one you mentioned. Sometimes, even after extending it, I can't decide and let it go to voting.
The other reason is I want more responses. That probably sounds egotistical, but if I think it's a good question and all I've gotten are smart alec answers, then I'll extend it.

I've thought about it. But never did, because it seemed to me that it wouldn't help me decide among the answers.

A couple of times, I sent the question up for voting, so someone else chose the best answers.

I do thumbs up those answers I like (on both my questions & other people's), but only thumbs down abusive or nasty answers. Not just because others have different opnions from mine.

All the time cos i am new to this lark and i too need to study replies. Serious or funny i respect the fact that people have taken time out to reply. Also i am very competative and i want to see loads of replies as i need the ego boost. Having said that now there could be a conspiracy against me and i will be ignored. Only joking! I never have, but right now I have a question that is getting so many wonderful answers, I'm going to extend it. I'll probably get more answers to confuse me but I'm really enjoying them.
I have no idea how I'm going to pick a best answer. There are so many good ones.

No. I agree with Granny. Most of my best answers come
within the first 4 hours. But I like to read people's
answers.

It's good to have such good answers that you need to extend the time to think about them.
I am new to all this and find it very interesting but probably am spending too much time reading lots of questions and answers but if you have the time why not extend...
