I have change the spelling of my name.Is legal affidavit enough for applying to fresh Indian passport?

Do i also need to advertise in newpaper because i have only change the spelling of my name. pls advice.

There are rules for a change of name and if an affidavit will suffice in your country, it can be used to amend your name in the passport.
