have you ever thought of how stupid you reacted to certain situations, happenings or people. Not necessarily a wrong reaction, but not exactly how you should've or wanted to react, simply because you had this strange perception of the world around you. Maybe even made a bad carreer decision.

exactly, and yes, we try to believe that everything happen for a reason because doing so is our way of making things feel better for us. an irony don't you think?

This is an integral part of growth ie by error and trial.and hence the saying, that every body becomes wiser after an accident.The smartness is in learning from mistakes[ours as well of others] and not to repeat them.when we take a decision,we use the information,data, experience and our judgment available to us at that point of time,which on a hind sight may look inadequate,wrong or even stupid but we can't go back in TIME and correct that. This then, is the reality of life.
