I once had a brief sexual liason with my lecturer ... I was 19 and he was totally awesome ... tall, handsome, strapping, deep voice, late 20s, intelligent ... totally phwoooargh.

My question is was I breaking any rules (even though we were 2 consenting guys)?

You asked a question, "Was I breaking any rules", well you were not but he certainly was. There is definitely a code of conduct between student and teacher, and if he were found out that he had a sexual liaison with you, he would probably lose his career and his job. But I guess breaking the rules was worth it for you both. You will look back on this in years to come and still probably go "phwoooargh". Naughty...but definitely nice......

I don't think you went against any rules, or it's wrong in any way. At my uni, there is at least 3 couples of student-prof that i know of. When i was novice, i frowned it upon, but then i realized that i have no reason to feel strange about that. Universities' societies are full of young adults, completely aware of what they are doing. And yes, a professor's intellect _can_ be a very appealing factor. :) And let's not forget that not all the professors are in their 70's, you can't really avoid to see them as sexual beings from time to time. :)

Well, it's definitely on the fringe of what is considered 'socially acceptable'. In a personal sense, I don't think there's anything wrong with it. You have the right to be attracted to whoever you want, regardless of their profession. If you had a fling with him, what's the problem?

The thing is, if this fling was when you were in his class, or if you asked him later for a letter of recommendation, etc., then it is wrong. Your activities with him may [probably] give you an unfair advantage over others.

Well, it depends on your school's code. Usually if a professor was teaching a class of yours at the time of the affair, then it's against the rules; both the professor and the students could be expelled. But if he's not teaching you anymore and you guys have something going on, then its totally fine.

I have sex with my professor sometimes, she's only 5 years older than me and she was my dance professor.

If you were taking his class at the time, *he* was breaking serious ethics rules (I worked for a uni for 13 yrs).

It's not a good thing to encourage. Even if the chemistry is there, wait until after the term. The faculty member could get tossed if it's discovered.

Normally, a relationship between a heterosexual teacher and a heterosexual student is considered wrong but you seem to think that it is different for two guys. It also seems that you have taken the opportunity on Yahoo! Answers to brag about it.

Don’t you have an ounce of common sense? You were breaking to rules to bias your teacher towards you and put your fellow students at a disadvantage or doesn't that bother you?

Academically, yes! Teacher/student relationships are grounds for firing from any institution of learning---but if he was all that and I was still 19, I don't think I'd have given a damn at the time--even though had you both been caught you also could have been expelled! He certainly should've known better, though!

Whatever. I would love to have a hot fling with my professor.

More power to ya! But don't let this get in the way of your studies or his career!

Many schools do have rules against teacher student relations but hey, if you were happy, then it's fine.
