Sophia is cute for a little girl, But she may regret being saddled with the nickname Sophie her whole life ( And if she's big boned, kids may call her Sophia the sofa, which would be pretty devestating.) So, while its a lovely name that kind of feels dusty pink and rustic and classic, It could come across kitschy in derivations.
Eloise is a beautiful name, and the girl could use the nickname Elle or Ellie, or even Lise. Teasing for this name is harder, but it wont fit her untill she grows into it -- Its a womans name, not a 7 year olds! but thats the convenience of the nickname. It conjurs, to me, a classical, refined lady. Unlike Sophia, which could come across as kind of laid back and informal, Eloise could be considered snobby.
I favour Eloise, because of the classical sound and the many possible nicknames for the girl to choose from when she gets older!

Both are lovely names, but I see Sophia being a dark haired dark eyed quieter girl and Eloise is a little bit more outgoing. Overall I think Eloise but maybe just Louise actually. With those two names I think they would really need to suit the child and you're probably not going to know until after their born and see if you pick up a 'vibe'!!
Good luck

Eloise is a very interesting name, kinda like regal name...sounds really cute but I feel it's kinda old...Sophia is more common a bit french, either name is good, but I would stay with Eloise.

I think they are both lovely names! So classy! Sophia is becoming a very popular name, keep in mind though. All in all, I vote for Eloise! Good luck and God bless!

I prefer Eloise, simply because it is less common nowadays.
Look at the birth notices in your local paper, there are SOOO many Sophias, which is a gorgeous name, but very common.

My favourite combination is Emma Grace ♥ But I also like the names Sophia, Eliza, Noelle (spelled this way), Madelyn, Elizabeth, Abigail and Eloise :) Maybe you'd like one of the following: - Sophia Noelle - Madelyn Eloise - Eliza Abigail

I think both are pretty but since Sophia is so popular, my choice is Eloise. Plus, you can have the cute (and popular) nickname Ellie with it if you want.
