Arguments for 2 people: A pair of chopsticks is two sticks.
Arguments for 4 people: Twins automatically implies the plural number of 2, therefore a pair must be 4.
A pair of pants is one set of trousers though so I guess it could be whether the twins are described as separate people or a pair... (good luck understanding that...)

Please solve this dilema for us. Thanks.

A pair of twins is 4 people.

You can use chopstick in a singular form, "please hand me that chopstick."

Twins implies duality. So a pair of twins is 2 sets.

A twin is the singular. "He is a twin." speaks to the individual of the pair.

A pair of twins means there is 4 people, because twins means there is two, and a pair of two is four. =]

anyway there is no way for it to equal two because, as you can see, a "pair of chopsticks" is just like saying "a pair of shoes" pair means two, its basically like saying "two chopsticks" or "two shoes".

God already won that argument. Twins come as a pair, so a pair of twins is one set, or two people.

2, are Twins if two children are born.
3, are Triplets
4, are Quadruplets
5, are Quintuplets

Twins are separate people, but can be
Identical in looks...( the same egg splits ),

Or they can be Fraternal Twins, separate
eggs that are fertilized about or close to
the same time.

A pair of Twins, would be 4 people.

but a pair is usually two right? and twins are two so they should be called a pair? you dont call a single pant "a pants" what. you call them "a pair of pants". so you dont call twins "a twins". so you call them a pair of twins? its so confusing. its best just to call them siblings.
