Belts are pretty cheap to purchase and install. Shouldn't run you more then 40 bucks to have the dealer or a shop install one for you.

It depends on the type of car. The belt might just need adjusting or a pulley might be worn out. An honest shop should be able to take care of it in a half hour at the most.
If the belt also runs the water pump, you can't drive it at all, or you'll burn up the engine. If the power steering pump and alternator are all that are out, you can put a charger on the battery and drive at least a few miles to a shop, as long as you can handle the stiffer steering.

Depending on the belt setup in your car, it sounds like your alternator and p/s pump run off the same belt. On a newer car, the belt is adjusted auto matically with a spring loaded tensioner. Earlier models were adjusted by moving the alternator or pump to tighten the belt. Either way, you should change the belt now. It is probably cracked or glazed from slipping. It is not expensive to fix, most guys should be able to check it out in 5 minutes.

It may be that all you need to do is add power steering fluid, but you should probably have your power steering pump checked out if that doesn't help.
As far as the battery light, maybe have the battery checked while your at it, as well as the alternator, and starter, as they can drain your battery if there is a problem with either one.
