The food or the service? I know, both are important but, which one, if bad enough, would make you demand your money back and/or walk out?

Service.

If the food is bad, but you are getting great service something will be done to make the situation right.

If the service is bad, no matter how good the food is I end up mad. Then the food doesn't taste so good anymore....

For me, the food is more important. Simply because, I don't have to pay for service (except tip) and I have to pay x amount of money for food, so it better be good. And if the service is bad, I just don't tip as much

The service.
No matter how good the food is - you won't enjoy it if you are not happy.

I have walked out of a restaurant once.... having ordered and waited nearly 25 minutes on a NOT busy afternoon and NO FOOD arrived (took them 10 minutes to get me a straw for my friend who has a disability and need a straw to drink) - we left and watched from a distance as the food finally came out 8 minutes AFTER we sat down at another eating place further down the footpath.

The service. Usually a good waitress will bend over backwards to make your meal a dining pleasure. The food can taste awful or burnt, but she'll make every effort to salvage the moment, cuz you're her livelyhood. I try to work with the restaurant, only as a last resort would I walk out or refuse to pay. lol.

The food is definately more important, that's why I go to restaurants.
Service is pretty important too but less so-- but, the better the service, the better the tip.

The service cause even if the food is bad, the attitude of your wait staff will leave a better impression...some what

the food

unless you go to an expensive restaurant you can't expect great service because many waitresses have to wait on 5-6 tables at once...while I was on vacation it took the food along time to come to our table but the food was so good it was worth the wait
