Just a wild thought. If he thought he could get a fair trial whether he is guilty or not he might be willing to turn himself in in order to go on trial. Lots of things will change with a change in government. Really no one has heard the side of Al Queda. Their story has not been heard. Right now the way of the current administration is to kill or silence. We really only get one side of the story of 911 and the hate against America.

Do you think Osama would give up in order to be heard so long as Bush and company doesn't have control over the military and the judicial system?

This added after many posts.

I just want to note the Iran Contra situation where just as the Reagan Administration got in power the Iranian hostages were freed. Either the Republicans bargained with the Iranians prior to Regan getting in or it was just a coincidence. Why would the Iranians let the hostages go " six minutes after Reagan was sworn into office on January 20, 1981" Changes in Administrations can make a difference. And there is a middleeastern saying that my enemy's enemy is my friend"

Whatever the future holds we don't know but the Republicans have not put Osama behind bars. A change might get some change in motion.

Sorry I didn't mean Iran Contra that was another situation where Republicans sold weapons to Iran to support their secret activities in central America and not the Hostage crisis in Iran.

Here's a quote from wikipedia referring to the hostages in Iran "The release took place just minutes after Ronald Reagan was officially sworn in as Carter's successor."

fireinthewire, I actually agree with you. What harm could possibly come from at LEAST interrogating Bin Laden before he dies?

Personally, I think it is odd that in Bin Laden's "confession tape" he looks much different from all other photos and videos, as well as writing/eating with his right hand when according to our own US intelligence he is left-handed(and walks with a cane even, but he seems pretty good at evading the US)... (take a look at the link below for the official FBI's terrorist profile on Bin Laden)

Let's say we ruled out the confession tape... we would actually have absolutely no reason to chase Bin Laden... it wouldn't have been that hard to frame him either, if he's actually responsible for what the government says he is.

WHAT IF...osama really wasnt involved? think for a moment. the u.s. got it's leads on osama from a known criminal, terrorist and just a totally bad person who himself had stolen a whole lot of money from osama. the u.s. made a deal with him...and he got away scott free while the birth of the al qaeda and the hunt for osama was on.
speaking of the hunt...uh, if osama was known to be in afghanistan, why were we in iraq????
plus...do you REALLY buy the story that the twin towers were downed by the planes? i mean, people who called 911 were talking about multiple explosions.

i'm NOT saying that osama ISN'T involved...financially, he probably was...i just am not sold on the idea that he was the leader...and, if it were YOU that the world was hunting for...guilty or not...would you poke your head out and say, here i am!

things that make you go hmmmmm.

one last thing...there have been some quite feasible leads that the bush family has ties with osama.

He might surrender himself (assuming that he is, in fact, still alive) to a Democrat president. Then again, he'd probably expect (and get) clemency for the "selfless act". Who knows, Reed & Pelosi might even nominate him for an award (maybe even the Nobel peace prize lol).

By the way, since when would al-Qaeda get to have a voice stateside, regardless of who's in power? They are the ones that have been initiating the terroristic acts (and this goes back well before 9/11). They are not citizens of the United States, and those that were should have lost their citizenship via treason charges. There is a set international judiciary system in place for military combatants - the courthouses of the U.S. aren't the place for it.

No, of course not. Him and his small group will not be satisfied until Muslims are the only people in the world. If a political party had anything to do with it, then neither he nor his members would have attacked us before the current administration. People seem to forget history too easily. There have been terrorist attacks on US possessions or personnel for many years.

What are you smoking? Seriously? No one has heard the side of Al Queda? RIght now, I'm telling you plenty of people have heard the side of Al Queda. They're all dead.

Before he attacked the US, he spent his life killing brown people. Their policy is torture and kill.

So, I have a great idea. Why don't you go and find Osama and try to talk him into turning himself in. It could be a reality tv show ending with a live beheading.

bin Laden declared war on the USA in 1998 because of the actions of the US during the cold war, and because of the morality of Christiantiy sicne the Middle Ages.

His war is with America, not with George Bush or the Republican party.

I suggest you read his open letter to Americans where he explains why he is at war with us. It is pretty obvious to me that he is a dangerous religious nut case.

This is not the only such communication he has made to Americans. I suggest you do some research, insstead of claiming that we have not heard the al Qaida side of the story.

I suggest you read the 9/11 commission report.

No he wouldn't remember there is a major reward DEAD or alive even bleeding bad, on 9/12 America stood untied and even the most bleeding heart would have given him the firing squad. He'll go down fighting or simply die in a cave

They said that their attacks were in response to pre-existing American military presence in the middle east...the military presence which could not be denied by Bush and company...so basically we were already killing them before they hit us back...if it was even Al Qaeda that was responsible for 9/11. Personally i think it was a plan devised by the Saudis that couldn't have been done without some Americans helping them...

One little man has cause the world to fall to its knees, OK then why are we the only nation to be at odds with this little man, if its global then where are the other victims, could it be after many years of pushing them around trying to make them do as we wish that they are just sick of our way of thinking, do china /Scotland/ Poland /Canada/France/Greenland/Ireland/ and Rome, feel like they are in danger and why not because they stay in their country and mind their own problems and don't push other countries around.

Osama is a puppet made in USA: he was trained and educated by best specialists.
His role in history of mankind is complete: he did what he had to and was trained to do. From time to time, USA make a new tape to shake our butts a bit and that's all.
He is happily living in US or US-protected place, enjoying all goodness Uncle Sam provides for him for life time, surrounded by well trained body guards and laughing loud on stupidity of the world to believe in fairy tales.
