A gentleman is simply a man who behaves respectfully towards others and strives to maintain his own respectability in the eyes of others. A man can be a gentleman no matter how much money he has, what level of society he comes from, or how old he is.

I don't necessarily think of myself as a "Gentleman" but I have certain rules of behaviour that I apply when I'm in company.
I try to be civil and polite to everyone (Civility costs nothing but is worth millions), I always hold the door for my wife and usually the people behind me too, I'm always aware of my wife no matter who is there and I know when she wants/needs a refill or if she feels out of place or isolated, I have firm opinions but I'm not fanatical. In general I try to behave towards others in a manner I expect to be treated (ie) With civility and courtesy.

It's more in actions than in words....

--He is polite and well mannered
--He is never obtrusive or rude
--He is thoughtful and considerate of others; ie; holds the door open for others
--Basic manners while eating
--He never forces his desires on a woman
--In a heated argument, she cries, he softens his heart and comforts her
--He has her walk by his side or in front but he never walks ahead of her
--When she talks he listens respectfully (goes both ways!)
--He is calm, and not easily angered
--He is generous
--He is courageous
--He is fair
--He is honest
--He is humble

That is my idea of a gentleman. I realize in respect, it goes both ways...except for me holding the door ;-)

no longer continuously it relies upon on the guy and the failings he does e.g. be intense high quality to lady, carry the door open for human beings, help human beings out whilst they are disappointed, enable lady in someplace first, push lady's seet in whilst going to eating place whilst paying, pay for nutrients and prepare dinner for the female you're seeing.

Someone who repects others in general..even when others might be being rude, he still wouldn't lose his temper and would still treat others fair and well..
