Yes, even if they are live plants they can grow without the soil. They will root under the rocks and live on the detritus that is on the bottom of the tank.

Yes, but the fish will eat the roots if they can get to them. There are these great little plastic pots that you can get, if you put the plant in one of those and pack it with gravel (some are actually sold like this) they will last a lot longer.

have you ever been applying "Waste administration" or a similar product in the tank water? if so, you will be able to desire to dilute that, and ideally eliminate it, earlier including the stay flowers. The Waste administration takes away the nutrition the flowers choose. in case you have Platies, they won't eat your flowers lots, merely nibble slightly right here and there, quite often choosing stuff off the leaves. stable flowers to commence with are Water Sprite and Anacharis. the two will stay to tell the tale in the event that they get uprooted, or broken off. some varieties of flowers connect with a rock or driftwood. they don't all choose soil. Planting them in the substrate many times works. I further some sand to the gravel in my tank, to assist the flowers. The sand particularly continues to be decrease than the impressive of the gravel, out of sight. you will be able to make your own mini plant pots with the backside of a pill bottle, for smaller flowers. cut back it off on the peak you like, and drill little holes in it for water circulate. positioned the plant's roots in it, and a few sand or small gravel. Then in case you will be able to desire to go the plant, you are able to pass the pot, and not disturb its roots. The pots could be sufficiently small to be hidden decrease than the gravel. Get some plant foodstuff suited for the form of flowers you have become, and upload it as in line with instructions. as quickly as you have actual flowers, you will could desire to preserve them. eliminate any lifeless or algae-infested areas, and prune them while they get too lots boost. you have got the two actual and pretend flowers on your tank.

yes you can! all you have to do is spread the roots out in the gravel then cover up all of the roots. or you could buy a small pot (2in maybe) and put a lil gravel, the plant, then fill it up with gravel

It will depend on the type of aquatic plants you are keeping some can keep without soils e.g. nana, Java fern lace... (They are usually tied to driftwood or rocks.)

Some need soil for nutrients and if tied to rocks or driftwoods they still can't survive..
