Just tell your friends to at least give it a chance. Let them listen to some of your stuff. If they still don't like it.....well dam it, I'll be your friend :)

Can you find some great cross-over stuff that is half rock, half rap? Or try some classic rock with them?

Thing is, people like what they like. Good for you for having an open mind. You might have to listen to hip hop and rap, and just talk about rock with the people who like it. Or who have open minds.

Personally, I think there's some great rap, hip hop and rock -- and then there's some that really sucks. In each category. Some people are stuck in their genre, and other people appreciate quality music, no matter what genre it appears in.

Wow that's so sad! Unfortunately people tend to be stubborn when it comes to these types of things. Do you like Cobra Starship? They're kind of like a mix of rock and hip hop I guess. Maybe they'll like that. Try the song One and Only by Timbaland featuring Fall Out Boy, unless you hate FOB then that wouldn't help... try songs that sound like a mix between the two so they see that it's not so bad. Hey i'll be your friend, I like rock! You shouldn't pay much attention to what they say about rock, if they don't listen to it, then what do they know right? It's sad that people are so close minded sometimes.

Some Red Hot Chili Peperes - can be a little rap like in some of their lyrical compsition.

here are the lyrics for Dani California for eg:

Gettin' born in the state of Mississippi
Papa was a copper and momma was a hippie
In Alabama, she would swing a hammer
Price you gotta pay when you break the panorama
She never knew that there was anything more than poor
What in the world does your company take me for

Black bandana, sweet Louisiana
Robbin' on a bank in the state of Indiana
She's a runner, rebel and a stunner
Condemned everywhere sayin' baby whatcha gonna
Lookin down the barrel of a hot metal .45
Just another way to survive

California rest in peace
Simultaneous release
California show your teeth
She's my priestess I'm your priest
Yeah, Yeah

She's a lover, baby and a fighter
She should've seen it comin when it got a little brighter
With a name like Dani California,
Day was gonna come when I was gonna mourn ya'
A little loaded she was stealing another breath
I love my baby to death

California rest in peace
Simultaneous release
California show your teeth
She's my priestess I'm your priest
Yeah, Yeah

Who knew the harder side of you
Who knew what all this got to prove
Too true to say goodbye to you
Too true too sad sad sad

First to fade her, gifted animator
One for the now and eleven for the later
Never made it, up to Minnesota
North Dakota man was a gunnin' for the quota
Down in the badlands she was saving the best for last
It only hurts when I laugh
Gone too fast

California rest in peace
Simultaneous release
California show your teeth
She's my priestess I'm your priest
Yeah, Yeah
(2x)

you may want to try them but as with food, people are not going to like what is forced upon them...keep trying though they may come around

Rap and hip hop have eaten their brains. The no longer have taste and there isn't anything you can do about it. Go to the rock chat rooms on Yahoo to talk about rock.

Rock music was created WAY after the bible. The bible says nothing about it. Your views on rock music are your own and have no place in religion other than personal beliefs associated with it. You're trying to put words in the Bible that aren't there. Besides, music is just a bunch of sounds. God doesn't care about noise according to Christianity. He cares more about thoughts, beliefs and actions.

funny your just like me. I listen to hip-hop, r&b, rock, pop, reggae, ect. I like a lot of different types of music. Probly because music is so deep that people dont understand the effect it could take upon you. But you can let them listen to the song Encore by Jay-z and Linkin Park. Let them know that hip-hop and rock can mix or let them listen to a rock song that is like one of the best songs that no one can say "that sucks" to it. Hey me and you should probly create a rock lovers group for people who love rock. but you know what they say ONCE YOU GO BLACK YOU NEVER GO BACK (back to the way you were before that is). LOL
best of luck

I think you need to show them how hip-hop and rock can coexist as one.

Rage Against the Machine may work...so would Linkin Park. 311 could do the job too.

Mabey you should try getting them to listen to Linkin Park or something (old Linkin Park, not new, mind you...). I transitioned from listening to rap and hip hop by starting to listen to them. Idk, they're almost like an infusion of both, but more rock.
