We had 2 theatres within 1 mile from my home! My 15 year old brother (he had no liscense yet) would drive my mom and me to the theatre. When it was real warm we would bring folding lounge chairs, sit next to the cars, wiith the speakers outside . When it was cold the portable heaters never worked,so we would use the car heater's.Then with the engiene noise we could not hear the movie! The kids would go around the lot and turn every speaker on. Then the workers would have to come out and turn them all off. That was our saturday treat! And there was an A&W drive up soda shop next to it. Where the girls would come up to the car windows, take orders, then bring it to the windows! I was a child then, but i remember it!

We're one of the lucky communities to still have a drive-in theater here at the edge of Lewisburg, Tennessee. We go often and it's good, clean family fun. There's a large grassy area between the parking lot and the screen and all the children run and play and fall asleep on blankets when they get sleepy.

They have done away with most of our drive ins. There is 1 left in Brisbane to my knowledge. I do not remember what I saw last, it has been so long, but I really wish they would bring them back.

Not in years and years. My parents watched "Doctor Zivago" while we kids camped out on top of the station wagon.

Good times.
