jimi hendrix, particularly the first 3 albums/ huge fan of "1983... a merman i should turn to be" from electric ladyland album.
grateful dead/ how can you even narrow it down? find some live show where they go from "St. Stephen" through space and into "the Other One."
jefferson airplane/ "Comin' Back to Me" and many others.
Country Joe and the Fish/ "Grace" is my very favorite off of Electric Music for the Mind and Body, and "Porpoise Mouth" and "Love" are excellent too.
Pink Floyd/ with Syd Barrett, so go for "See Emily Play," or "Astronomy Domine" off the first album. maybe even spacier later (no syd) with "Saucerful of Secrets" or "Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun" off Ummagumma
King Crimson, from the 1st album/ i pick the title track "In the Court of the Crimson King" over "21st Century Schizoid Man" or even the wonderful "Epitaph."
Moody Blues/ if you have to have the first album, go with the lesser-known "Evening, a) The Sun Set b) Twilight Time." But I say skip to 1968's In Search of the Lost Chord, for either "Om" or "Legend of a Mind"
OMG, let's not forget the Beatles! title tracks for Sgt Pepper's and Magical Mystery Tour are nearly rivalled by Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and I Am the Walrus
Jethro Tull's "a New Day Yesterday"
Cream "Tales of Brave Ulysses"
Traffic "Paper Sun"
Blind Faith "Can't Find My Way Home"
Yardbirds "Heart Full of Soul" or "Shapes of Things"
Zombies "Time of the Season"
the Rolling Stones. some lesser-known track like "She's a Rainbow" or "Citadel"
Grass Roots "Let's Live for Today"
creedence clearwater revival / either "I Put a Spell on You" or "Born on the Bayou"
if you want some good pop one-hit wonders, maybe Strawberry Alarm Clock's ubiquitous "Incense and Peppermints" or the Lemon Pipers' "My Green Tambourine" or Donovan's "Season of the Witch."
Bonzo Dog Band / "9 to 5 Pollution Blues"
Yes/ "Then"
the Byrds / "Eight Miles High"
Sly & the Family Stone / put something a little funky on there with "Dance to the Music" or "Life"
or even Frank Zappa's version of "Peaches en Regalia" from Hot Rats
Spirit / "I Got a Line on You"
janis & Big Brother and the Holding Company / "Down on Me," "Ball and Chain," and/or "Piece of My Heart."
the Doors / there are songs off all the first 4 albums that are great. personally? "Strange Days"

well, there is a lot more. obscure stuff, sure, but also, the early 70s were the birthplace of a lot of the best head music. this list only contains the 60s.
hope you enjoy. peace.
