That's a good question. My sense is that if it was done from home, you'd have to use some sort of VOIP arrangement like Skype so they can keep track of who you talk to and for how long, and so that they can monitor what's happening. Otherwise, it would all be some sort of call-center activity.
I rather doubt that it pays much. If you're an independent contractor, as you'd be if you were working from home, they'd probably pay you less than if you had to go into an office, where it's tougher for an employer to treat you like anything but an employee, with all the state and Federal pay and tax requirements that that involves.
Howard Stern once had an interview--this was many years ago--with a woman in that business. She said that her firm held classes in the art and mystery of telephonic stimulation, and that it helped a good deal.
I hope there's an answer here that gives a hint as to where to find out more. In years past they might have advertised in the classified ad sections of what were known as 'true confessions' magazines for women, but I don't know how they'd advertise these days.
It sounds that if this sort of thing doesn't bother you, you could joke about it for the rest of your life afterwards. Have fun.

I won't condemn you for the career decision you are making. It is your life and you might be good at this job. I question whether this job will give you long term satisfaction, though. If this is true, then you will have a difficult time accounting for what you were doing during this time on your resume. You will not be able to put it on a resume for any respectable job. By this I mean, most employers won't respect this career choice. You may get stuck in a rut.

pso are not phone prostitutes nor will the job belittle you. It is an acting job, a job like any other job, but done in the safety of your own home and the people on the phone have no idea where you are or who you are so it is safe. If it is something that interest you then it does not hurt to try and if you don't like it and quit then it's no big deal.

You probably will never be able to tell anyone you did this. Knowledge of your occupation will alienate you from most people.
