Depends on the "alloys" you are talking about. Alloys are usually products that have advantages over each of the materials they are made from. As most are more durable, more resistant to corrosion, stronger (so less is needed to do the same job), it would appear that the effect is beneficial.

Jennifer is right. Alloys are combinations of chemical elements one of which must be a metal. They are made to be very beneficial to mankind's development as long as they are serving their purpose.

However the processes of their large scale creation can cause great pollution and waste.

Their disposal/recycling can also tend to be expensive.
It needs to be carefully planned out so that the natural environment is not adversely effected by man-altered material.
Because of this, big companies and governments who are greedy, often tend to take short cuts whenever possible.

There is a book available at Target called Metals & Alloys.
You can find it at their website for about $27.00.
