Unless something really hinky happened, the two are unrelated. You need to see if your sound is playing, or not.

To see if your sound is working do this:

Start>Control Panel, then click on sound and audio devices. When the dialog box comes up, choose the sounds tab.

Look at what is there, you have find the box called "Program Events". Click on asterisk and another box should lite up labeled "Sounds". To the right of the Sounds box is a triangle pointing to the right. Click on this triangle, and watch it. If it turns into a square briefly, your computer is putting out sound.

If it is grayed out, you have no sound card that the system can see.

If you the triangle changes into a square, the sound is playing. Open all of your media players, and turn the volume up and close the media player. Sometimes they take over all the sound, and will not let it play until it is turned up.

If the whole thing is grayed out, the system has lost the sound card, or the drivers.

It is also possible that while the DSL was being hooked up, your computer got moved and you have a loose speaker connection.

Assuming your speakers are properly plugged in your sound card might have a driver problem. To find out and fix it, do this. Click on Start, RIGHT click on My computer and chose Properties. A block called System Properties will appear, click on the Hardware tab. Click the Device Manager button, scroll down the list till you see an entry that says Sound Video Game Controllers. If you see anything with a yellow triangle on it, there is a problem. Right click on that item that has the yellow triangle and choose Update Driver. Hope this works.

Though it seems to be related, it is unlikely that this has happened by switching to Cable. Though this sounds silly, make sure that your mute is not on. Go to Start, Control Panel, Sounds, and make sure that the mute is not selected. If this does not work, make sure that you have the latest drivers for your soundcard. Go to Start, Control Panel, System, Hardware, and see if any yellow question marks are present. This will indicate that the drivers have been delted for some reason. If not, lastly, make sure that the wire for your speakers was not loosened while pluggin in the ethernet cable.

To simply see if the sound works, also try using headphones. Good Luck.

If that is all you did, most likey during the physical change the plug was plugged into the wrong hole in the back of your computer... or disconnected from there to your speakers.

BTW, it should be plugged into the green one... be sure to check the plug-in to the back of the speakers as well.

I had similar experience more than once. Search on internet for your sound card and reinstall, unless you have it on disk. Good luck. It's No Fun without sound.

it is quite in all probability a project Qwest ought to attend to. that is their accountability to confirm their shoppers are receiving the service they're meant to get! Filters must be the project, yeah, yet this seems extra extreme than that. Filters might in all probability be a controversy once you're having cyber web issues while human beings %. up and talk on your telephone. .25mbps is heavily low, and you ought to be complaining incredibly rattling annoying to them, in spite of if be variety, as i'm particular they might restoration your project.

You must have knocked a wire or unplugged something -- the internet and sound are completely unrelated.
