Test for ammonia nitrites and nitrates of the water give those reading and i would be more than happy to help. Also post what size tank, ALL the fish you have in the tank, what filter is on the tank, how much do you feed them, anything you can think of. So if you dont already have a test kit to test your water, go get one test the water and post more info. The only thing i can say that may help ios do a 25%-30% water change with dechlorinated water. Feel free to email me and id be happy to help when you have more info.

If you are refering to at night then it is COMPLETELY normal. I have a shovelnose catfish that just sits on a piece of driftwood all day long. He almost looks fake he moves so little. But as soon as the light turns off hes out and about (he's nocturnal). Your goldfish could also just be skidish and may want to hide. If you don't have a cave or plants i recomend getting them as they might help him come out more

i use to have goldfish but gave them to my bf.
anyways, goldfish, they like to lay on the bottom of the tank from time to time, just wait a little more and let c if he changes. it might also b that he wants to hide, try placing some kind of decoration inside ur aquarium in which he can hide.

Do you see your other fish attacking him or what kind of fish do you have with him? Because if you have tropical fish with him maybe that's why he does that because of the water is different.
Hope this helps let me know what kind of fish you have with him....

This really isn't enough information. Can you give us any other physical symptoms such as ragged tail, white spots, cottony patches, red patches, sores, clamped fins, etc.?
