i'ts only natural to outgrow a genre, i used to dig metal, in high school. but i'm just not that aggressive anymore, i'm downright peaceful. now i don't like anything past 1974, motown, fifties rock the old sun records crew, but i never liked rap,, i always thought it was more style than substance, there aren't too many rap artists that have a message with any depth, it has spawned a mentality of ignorance that upholds foul character traits, promotes criminal activity, degrading women, and i don't dig any of that i just wanna feel good so good i got you dunt dunt dunt, dunt dunt dunt da, da da da dunt dunt dunt da dunt dunt da, that's supposed to be a trumpet james brown had more talent in his left foot than 50 cent, puffy puff pefferton oh and that one dude that's ugly as hell dating beyonce, has with their whole "posse"

First of all in this country we have a thing called free speech. As far as thinking Rap is bad , one must ask is the enviroment that created Rap bad . I think Rap when listened to by people who know its entertainment for some and a way of life for others through no choice of their own is fine. Whats bad is when a parent buys their 5 yr. old child an Eminem or lil john cd Either knowing and not caring about content or just by sheer ignorance of content.. Now thats Bad!

Why do we have to subjected to this redundant question? If you don't like rap...hooray 4 you. ALL MUSIC HAS "BAD" LYRICS. You say you're into rock and metal now right? Well last I heard Marilyn Manson and Kurt Cobain weren't exactly the poster children for good values and morality. Everyone who is uneducated in hip hop and rap music will say all they talk about is money, cars and hoes. Pick up a Common or Talib Kweli, and expand your mind and turn off the damn radio.

No its not. You never judge an entire genre of music because you heard a few songs on television/radio. There's a good side and bad side to almost every music genre. There are plenty of positive and uplifting rappers out there, you rarely hear them on tv. Common, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, The Roots, The Fugees, Slum village, Dilated People, Outkast, Missy Eilliot, Jurassic 5, lupe fiasco, Will Smith, ll cool j, Kanye west, etc. Give some of these artist a listen, non of them talk about those topics you listed

properly initially maximum rap artists have not have been given any skills. absolutely everyone presently think of they could rap. for this reason the word rap is crap. There are some that have actual skills in spite of the undeniable fact that, whose music I relish. Then maximum songs are approximately intercourse, violence, drugs, and alcohol. Its terrible. now not in hassle-free terms do I could desire to locate a music that i like (which isn't hassle-free) yet then I could desire to take heed to what their asserting too. That narrows the stable songs all the way down to approximately 2%. Its unhappy yet there is not something stable on the radio anymore.

Unfortunately mainstream rap has caused you to generalize all rap music unjustly so. None of the rap I listen to is put on the radio. There are a lot of rappers out here that don't make the crap that people often refer to. I myself would not be able to judge rock music because I don't even listen to any of it. It's in our human nature to generalize what we do not understand, but to avoid appearing ignorant, just think deeper into it before making harsh and biased comments on the content of most rap music.

FUK BAD MESSAGES. Its all bullshit, people are so sensitive. Lazy *** parents are letting everyone but themselves raise there kids and then they have the nerve to complain about it. Violence on TV, violent music, sex on the internet..... Rap/Hip-Hop isnt there to raise children! Its an expression of life (or at least it used to be) so just like kids shudnt watch porn they shudnt listen to rap. Dont tell rap to change! DONT LET KIDS LISTEN TO IT. You wouldn't write a letter to Playboy telling them to put some clothes on their models so that your 10-year old can read the magazine..... That being said... I grew up listening to rap (am still growing up) and if anything, rap has had a positive influence on me. Allowing me to appreciate the culture as well as appreciating what i have, seeing how bad others have it. So rap (Hip-Hop) is not bad! Its just an acquired taste so to speak....

Yea I feel you about the redundancy of this question@MZcarter...All of a sudden rap is bad...why because white kids/suburban kids are getting pulled into this phase of thinking it cool to listen to rap as a fad...lol for a good example watch the movie Alpha Dog...lmao U just made a fool of yourself by saying you listen to heavy/metal rock...They pretty much promote the same ish and worst(beastiality, violence towards ppl not like them, sex, and drugs)...Obliviously youre not listen to the RIGHT rap music...rap has variety of artist u just chose to listen to the WRONG ish...and Obliviously youre not listening to lyrics of any music if you think that Metal is so much more WHOLESOME then rap...LMAO and SMH

ure right about MOST rap, most of the crap u hear on the radio is the horrible club songs with crappy beats and evenm worse lyrics, that are only about hookers, money, cars, and how rich they are. But underground rap and conscious rap focuses on real things, rappers like common, mos def and talib kweli rap about problems in cities and other meaningful things.
