the forged checks that were wriitten and cashed in the amount of $5000.00? My nephew stole my Father, his Grandpa, checks from his check book and wrote the checks out to himself and his debtors and signed my Father's name on them. If my Father was to press charges against him, could we make the bank be responsible for that amount? My Father doesn't want him to go back to prison (he was in prison for some other charges, not fraud or stealing) and if he pressed charges against him he would. H e wiped out my Father's bank account. If the bank would give my Father back the money (or almost all of it) I think he would press charges. Please, I need your help on this ASAP.. Serious people only. Thank you.

I want to make it clear that it was my Nephew. Not my son. My brothers son.

Your father should report the stolen checks to the bank immediately. The bank is responsible for verifying the signatures on the checks (impossible in reality). Your father will get his money back and your son will go to prison where he belongs.

It must be reported to the bank immediately that the checks have been forged. The bank will return the money to the account. He need not file a complaint against the perpetrator, but he will have to testify if the bank files a complaint (they probably will).

Yes, the bank would give him his money back. However, they will have to investigate it, and it takes a little while for it to happen. He needs to report it immediately. There is a time limit (varies from bank to bank) to report fraud and get any money back.

Have them talk to someone in the fraud department at the bank. They'll be more than glad to assist you with the process.

I hope this helps.

the money is gone only one is responsible is the nephew he will and should go back minus a finger or two then maybe just maybe he will never steal again... and the asnwer is no... you cant give money back if its been spend now they could fine him and tell him to pay it back but that dont mean he will ever have the money and jail is the best place for him i think
