I am looking to take a trip to Amsterdam and other surrounding areas (which ones I am not sure yet.)around Sept or Oct of 2008. I am looking to find a few good recommendations of websites that offer independent tour packages.

Europe is so easy to travel that you do not need 'individual' tour packages.
You can book a train pass, and a first night, and see from there.
Or if you really want to keep it local you can also buy tickets as you go.
If you really want a package you can do one of the package trips where they take you everywhere, but then you will be in a bus with a group.

September and October are very good months to travel, as the weather is likely to be warm or at least gentle, and the hotels and hostels are opened and not fully booked.
