Court marriage as you call it is solemnized under the Special Marriage Act, 1954 all such marriages can take place between any two Indian citizens as well one Indian citizen with a foreigner irrespective of their religion, caste or creed, and you can say this is the secular form of marriage available in our country. Such a marriage is solemnized before the marriage officer/registrar usually D.C. deputy commissioner of the area (Sub registrar/SDM is the marriage officer/registrar only in case the already solemnized marriage under any other Act has to be registered) where both or any of the parties to such a marriage reside permanently or for at least one month. Cost of such a marriage is merely Rs90/- or as the rate prevalent in your area. Now how you proceed? Both the parties to the marriage file a joint application before the marriage officer along with individual affidavit attested by notary public specifying the age(boy 21yrs &girl 18yrs), place of residence, marital status(unmarried or divorcee as the case maybe), mental status(not idiot or not with unfit mind), not related to each other. Along with this you have to give proof of age (School certificate, Passport, Pan card), proof of residence (Passport, ration card, voters ID card, rent agreement), & the application of such a marriage should be witnessed by 3 independent adult persons, affix one photograph of each of the parties & all the 3 witnesses. You have made such an application/notice to the marriage officer in person along with all the 3 witnesses. On receiving such an application the marriage officer issues a month notice regarding the intended marriage & get such a notice affixed on the notice board out side his office, a copy of such notice is sent to the marriage officer under whose jurisdiction the other party lives, also a copy is to the individual parties address. This procedure is mandatory & you cannot get any exemption for this , hence when the copy of such notice reach your permanent place of residence your parents come to know about this marriage. The marriage officer can even get such notice published in two local newspapers & even will send bailiff of the court to check & confirm your place of residence. After expiry of the period of notice a date is fixed on which all the persons parties to the marriage & 3 witnesses appear again before the marriage officer who declare them married & issue a certificate to this regard. Incase of any objections raised the marriage officer will settle these objections. Now what can be objections that can be raised? These can ONLY BE REGARDING THE CONDITIONS NECESSARY FOR SUCH MARIAGE & NOTHING ELSE. What are the conditions? As I stated above i.e. Age, martial status, mental status, prohibited relationship (related to each other by blood). This is the brief procedure I have told you here, incase you want any clarification you can ask.

Go up to the court house, say you want to get married my a court official and then you fill out a marriage certificate form, which may only take a week or less, then they'll give you a name (or maybe at the time of when yo signed the form)and you call him/her to set up a time and place. Sometimes its at the courthouse or they may ask you if you want to go to a local park or garden for alittle extra fee. Hope this helps (in MN the total cost was $175 ($100 for the form fee,$75 for the official)

If your of legal age, go to the court house get a marriage license, and ask for the justice of the peace to marry you. You will need someone to be a witness, maybe a friend or someone who works at the court house. However if you plan on keeping it hid even after its done, you need to talk to someone in public records-most court houses turn in stuff like that to the local paper. Marriage license, Divorce Filings, Back taxes, it all gets printed up. Maybe someone can make sure to leave your names out of the "documents" they will be sending to the paper. Good Luck!, and Congrats!

Marriage is a social phenomena. Though there is no need to disclose your marriage to any of the two families concerned if you are of legally marriageable age.
But I have doubt as to how long you can hide this fact from the respective families? If you are not prepared to face your families, how can you face the world? First find the solution to above questions and then contemplate marriage. Best luck.

No confusion man Eazyyyyyyy. When she expect u to obey her and fulfill her wishes. U also expect her to do the same if she love u deeply. She should obey u and fulfill ur likings too. She is selfish. Will she leave her familyy . Beware she ll tell yes now, later will wait for a chance for a re union with her family. U ll never get the happiness if u marry her betraying ur parents. A guilty feelings will always rule u. PLease don do the mistake of obeying her. Look around there are plenty of girls around u. But there is only one parent u ve in this life. If she love u truly she ll love ur family also.

Ok seriously, my husband and I did this exact same thing. Long story, as I'm sure yours is too... but we knew our parents would not be happy if we got married. So we went to the courthouse, filled for our marriage license, and 3 days later the justice of the peace at our local magistrates office married us. What you need to remember (we didn't) is that when you apply for a marriage license, both of your names are published in the newspaper whether you want it to or not. That is how we got caught. Theres really nothing you can do unless maybe you apply in another state? Im not sure on the rules of this, but its worth looking into? Your families will accept it in time, I promise. They may never be happy for you, but they will accept it!

You are going to piss off both of your families forever?

Why would you make a family by hurting so much of the rest of it (of which you will be a part?)

Be a man! Tell her family that you WILL get married, and set an open 'everybody knows it' marriage ceremony. Invite all of them to come, but do it all openly and like a real man.

Don't be a coward by marrying behind everyone's back.

Send out homemade invitations to the courthouse wedding if you want to save money.

Go to the courthouse and apply for a marriage license. Then when you get it, go to the JP and get married. You do not have to tell anyone what you are doing. Not sure why you or her would not want your families to know. Marriage is supposed to be a joyous occasion that friends and families share in. If you have to hide it, than there has to be something that is happening that maybe you and her should not get married.

Before giving a reply to your query, I would like to ascertain whether you are of marriageable age, and if your families are not supportive, do you possess resources and means to live independently.
