It seems to me that nothing has changed at all since Yahoo updated it's community guidelines.

When I get reported for asking "What are you in the mood for" and a very tame, somewhat boring fill in the blank question.... while some of the most inane, obnoxious & offensive questions stay posted, you have to wonder. It seems to me nothing has changed one bit.

I'm pretty sure Yahoo has outsourced it's administration jobs to a heard of roaming south american lemurs.

To be honest I am not certain.
Being an inquisitive person I have run my own experiments.
I won't go into the details but I have learned a few things.
One it is possible to get an answer deleted with a violation that was not in any way a violation of the TOS or Guidelines if you just anger enough people. So it seems large numbers of reports do result in violations regardless of the content. One or two reports don't guarantee a violation unless the content is a blatant break in the rules. So I believe someone does at least glance at the reported Q&A
The biggest victim of unfair vioalations are Q&A that fall under the term "chatting" much of what goes on in P&S can be considered "chatting" sadly while harmless and mild infractions often lead to accounts being deleted. Post the drive away potential users by the now infamous trolls that roam the Q&A boards for hours and even days before they are deleted.
I think the mystery around suspensions and the ability of hostile users to abuse the reporting sytem are the biggest danger Y!A faces if only the people in charge would face that reality they could prevent Y!A from becoming like Groups a now almost useless service that was once the staple of online communities.

I am very disturbed by the level of viciousness on this site. I think if you encounter a person who is abusive and in blatant disregard for the rules, you need to send Yahoo an email about them and try to get some action. I don't know what they can do, but some of these people are not well and it is making good people stay away.

that question, though really a question... would have been tapped for chatting. Anything along the lines of " how are you"... will get popped. Yeah, its nitpicking.. but that is their rule...

I would say this... the nasty stuff probably stays up so long .... because people dont use "adult content" as a reason...OR.... every assumes everyone else has reported it... when if fact NO ONE has...

Dont assume its been reported if you see it... and hit the report button....

I would also guess that they take the reports in the order received, and if the system is clogged with the kiddies playing avatar games and such.. the sheer volume may not allow them to get to it that quickly....

They don't investigate. If the administration jobs had been outsourced to lemurs, at least something would get done overnight as lemurs are nocturnal. Nah, I think outsourced to apathetic corporate swine would be more accurate.

the only thing they gave us was the "block"
this is the only site with a report button!!
endless years and endless statements on the forum asking them to replace the report button for an ignore button has not accomplished anything!!
they do not care one bit!!
offensive ques.are on here every night!!they never look into the reporting!!
anyone can report for any reason!!if they aren't going to check the reports, then they should at least not lie and say that they will!!

Yeah you're right about the outsourcing ... but it's going to the subcontinent. You can tell that they don't really "get" contemporary English as she is spoke.

The process is basically, "Ooh someone's reported it, so even though I don't understand the question, I'll delete it anyway, in case I look foolish".

Thats sturdy to understand. Ive in basic terms gained the only style of message. Now i understand its the YA admins who're the snobs and not the actual YA consumers. Wow, my answer has violation written throughout it.

Yep, there are some changes: the block feature. I believe this has Augmented trolls behaviour. Now they can do their damage and to someone you suspect well guess what they have their profile blocked. Now you can't see what other damage they may have done.

I am sure they violate more in the Religious section than here. I feel your pain though some people who deserve it continue to post nasty and inappropriate stuff daily.

hahahahahahaha......sorry
I'm just laughing so hard at the fact that....well.....they obviously DON'T have a process. Knowing all the people I know who have gotten reported or deleted for no good while other people do worse things tells me they don't investigate the reports.
Guess I'll get another violation notice now....
