I sell Hermit Crabs in a pet shop.
Hermit Crabs should be in sand so they can dig and explore easily.
In order to keep the sand cleaner, keep water in a Glad ware type container with at least an inch of sand.
Rinse well several times a week to keep clean. Crabs like to sit the the combination to get wet.
Extra shells are necessary so the crab can move on when ready.
Look for hole sizes that are bigger, not necessarily shell size.
