good point as democracy cannot be achieved by force or forced upon somebody. the way to do it is to make everything democratic throw the doors wide open so that descisions can be made from every point of the globe by it's citizens through ballot boxes as war kills the same whoever is doing it or worse. the quote ''he who seeks to slay the monster should make sure he does not become the monster.'' comes to mind with an addition How does he know it is a monster or if the appearance is hampering his descision to kill it as it could be no different from him. An illusion could be placed on the best freind of the slayer by the monster to give the best friend the appearance of the monster to be slain the truth revealed later as the body of the slayer's best freind meets the slayer's horrified gaze. In another story an illusion might be placedby the monsters on townspeople to give them the appearance of monsters then slayers from another town arrive in search of the monsters and kill the townsfolk only to see the bodies of slain townsmen as the illusion dispersed. point being sometimes things are not what they seem people can be convinced they are slaying monsters when theyare not

To the dead, probably zero, but after being slapped around by totalitarians the 'slapping around for the surviviors ususally doesn't stop until they too are dead or working their @ss off in a salt mine. On the other hand, usually at least, the 'liberty and democracy' guys attempt to clean up their mess. I wouldn't bet the farm on this thesis, but at least its a shot!

Too bad the extremists didn't care to listen.
I respect Ghandi
"The greatness of a nation and it's Moral progress can be judged
by the way it's animals are treated."
"To my mind the life of a lamb is no less precious than that of a human
being. I hold that, the more helpless a creature, the more entitled
it is to protection by man from the cruelty of man."
Gandhi

it makes all the diffrence in the world. poeple die in the prusit of liberty and democracy for te chance that there family there friends and just other humans will have a chance to live in a better place. poeple that die under totalitarianism are lifes lost with out hope of a better tomorrow. your one of those pople who would rather live with the chance of nothing then die with the chance for everything (paraphrased from john dickens a founding father)

Depending on your own perspective, it might make a LOT of difference to the dead. There's no way to fully know until we ourselves step over to the other side. Maybe Gandhi was right, maybe he was wrong.
Interesting question by the way.

" Far between sundown's finish an' midnight's broken toll
We ducked inside the doorway as thunder went crashing
As majestic bells of bolts struck shadows in the sounds
Seeming to be the chimes of freedom flashing
Flashing for the warriors whose strength is not to fight
Flashing for the refugees on the unarmed road of flight
An' for each an' every underdog soldier in the night
An' we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing." Bob Dylan

None! It does to the living and the ones who are at this moment seeing sunrise in Iraq! Three (3) or 4 of them will be in a body bag and on their way home by the time you get up in the morning!! Their families are not going to be very happy!
And who knows how many innocent Iraqi's are going to be killed!

It doesn't make a difference, but too many people in this country gave bush a blank check to go destroy a country when they were not involved in 9/11.
People need to stop and think once in a while, and look at the government. The founding fathers called it checks and balances...
