Yes, my grandparents use to love telling me stories from the mouth while my mother would normally read from a book.
My absolute favorite was one my grandfather use to tell me. It was about a lion who lived in Africa and a Polar Bear who lived in Antarctica. The two were pen pals and sent letters to each other all the time. The Lion said that he had never actually seen ice before so the Polar bear decided to put some ice in a box and mail it to the lion. By the time the Ice had arrived at Lion, it had been melted into water, due to the heat. So Lion sent it back along with a letter asking why Polar Bear had just sent him water! But by the time the box had arrived to Polar Bear, it had frozen back to ice since Antarctica was so cold!
Of course he told the story better, those are the main points. What I would give to be 6 again. =3

The book was called Moon Game and it was about a little bear that played hide and seek with the moon. Something I will always remember.

No sad to say no one in my family read to me, but I did have a friend of my fathers who did, as did his wife, they had no children and they always treated me like a queen. I loved them reading to me, so I always read to my kids and my grand kids. And my favorite story was Snow white and Rose red.

Yes! My granny would read to us every night after dinner for about 1/2 to 3/4 of an hour, while we "doodled" (as she would call it, on those multi color scrap book pages.)
She read us the Entire Anne of Green Gables series. It's honestly one of my favorite childhood memories.
Have a great one! =)
