Is my clutch bad?

I have a 1996 honda accord ex coupe manual transmission, When i push on the pedal, there's very little resistance, but it shifts fine and doesn't slip, it just seems weird how the pressure on my clutch decreased so much.

its probably the pressure plate getting weak on it,as long as it doesn't slip id drive it,if its not broke don't fix it,you may have problems out of it later on,but for now if it drives ok ,just drive it,you,ll know when the clutch is going bad it will start slipping real bad in it,good luck with it.

the honda clutch is operated by hydraulic pressure in much the same way that the brake system is--there is a separate master cylinder to transfer the mechanical force from your foot to hydraulic pressure and a slave cylinder at the other end of the piping to convert that hydraulic pressure back to mechanical force to operate the clutch fork.

what you are describing sounds similar to the complaint that would be comprable for a brake system where the 'brake pedal drops' because the seals inside the master cylinder are leaking. when that happens, much of the fluid inside the master cylinder bypasses the piston seals that are trying to push the fluid forward and the fluid returns to the master cylinder reservoir. That causes a loss of pressure and the feeling of less resistance as though the pedal were dropping to the floor.

the clutch still works because you have enough hydraulic pressure to operate it but it will get to a point where the pedal won't return from the floor. Its a gradual process in most cases.

my advise is to get the clutch master cylinder replaced. most shops also recommend replacing the slave cylinder as well. that should put you back to the way the clutch felt before.

If you cant burn out then your clutch is shot, and you need a new clutch.
